Q: I can't fit certain burs/angles in my straight attachment. What should I do?
A:
If you're having difficulty fitting a bur/angle into your lever style
straight attachment, the shank size of the bur/angle may exceed the
allowable range of the handpiece. The lever style straight attachment
accepts only ISO standard shank lengths (nothing larger than .0925"
or 2.35 mm diameter). Many lab burs and acrylic burs have shank sizes,
which exceed this limit.
If the
shank size is within this limit, and you are still having difficulty,
call Midwest at 1-800-800-7202 and speak with one of our Handpiece Service
Center Representatives.
Q: Can I use metal angles on the Midwest RDH?
A:
Midwest does not recommend using metal angles on the RDH handpieces,
because this would result in metal to metal friction in the chuck of
the handpiece causing the chuck to wear more rapidly.
Q: What is the current maintenance protocol on my low speed?
A:
For step by step instructions, see our section on Handpiece Maintenance.
Q: I am
trying to order a Latch type Contra-Angle Head and don't see it in the
catalog. Where can I find it?
A:
We have upgraded all of our lowspeed heads to Push Button. The head
fits the same sheaths and motors as the conventional latch heads and
accepts the same latch burs and files. The Midwest Latch Head part number
is now 720485.
Q: I can't
get my disposable prophy angle in or out of my RDH Hygiene Handpiece.
What should I do?
A:
Either the angle you are using has an "oversized" shank, or the chuck
in your handpiece may need to be adjusted. DO NOT force an angle into
the handpiece as it could break off in the handpiece. You should try
a different angle and if you have the same problem - call our technical
department at Midwest, 1-800-800-7202.
Q: My prophy angle has broken off in my RDH Handpiece. How can I get it out?
A:
The handpiece will probably need to come to our repair center to have
the angle removed. You should call our Air Repair Service at (800) 800-7202
and advise our representatives of this problem. They will arrange a
free pick up for your handpiece.
Q: I can't get burs to lock into the Push Button Contra-Angle Heads.
A:
The entire Contra-Angle Sheath and Head need to be connected to your
Low Speed Motor in order to seat the burs. If you don't have the sheath
"snapped -on" to the motor, the bur will not be easy to engage in the
head.
